Toughened (Tempered) Glass
Five times stronger than regular glass
Toughened (Tempered) Glass is a type of safety glass that is processed by controlled thermal or chemical treatments to increase its strength compared to normal (annealed) glass.
Key Features
- High Strength
- Safety
- Thermal Resistance
- Cannot Be Cut or Drilled After Tempering
How It’s Made:
- Heating: Glass is heated to over 600°C (1112°F).
- Rapid Cooling: Surface cooled quickly with high-pressure air while the interior remains hot.
- Result: Surface goes into compression, and the core into tension – creating strength.
